Kirjoittelin Posterous-vetoiseen ”henkilökohtaiseen” blogiini muutaman merkinnän vuonna 2011. Eipä sielläkään ihmeellinen tahti ole ollut.
Vuodelle 2012 siis lupaukseksi blogin aktivoiminen. Katsotaan, miten pitää. :)

Olen kuullut väitteen, että viidennes yrityksen sosiaaliseen mediaan lähettämistä viesteistä voisi olla mainontaa. Minusta kymmenesosakin on rutkasti liikaa. Tarkoitan mainoksella viestiä, joka on selkeästi havaittavissa kaupalliseksi. Esimerkiksi linkit omaan blogiin eivät täytä tätä määritelmää – ainakin jos sisältö on kirjoitettu hyvin. [Read more...]

Vanha englanninkielinen blogi sai mennä. Päivitykset ovat jääneet aika harvoiksi. Yrittäjälle omalla kielellä kirjoittaminen on luonnollinen vaihtoehto ja innostus englanniksi kirjoittamiseen on Twitter-käytön kautta yllättäen jopa vähentynyt.
Tilalla on staattinen kopio sisällöstä, joten kommenttikentät on poistettu ja laitapalkeista osa heitetty menemään. Jonkin verran toimimattomia linkkejä saitilla varmasti on. [Read more...]

Restaurant Nuevo Latino bullies a blogger

Restaurant Nuevo Latino (Helsinki, Finland) is threatening a Finnish blogger Mikko Eerola who has criticized their service in Jaiku and Eat.fi. In Eerola’s opinion, the restaurant is expensive, food is average and the service is poor.
So, what would the restaurant owner manager do? Apologize? Improve the service? Perhaps even take an active role by trying to impress the critic? [Read more...]
Greywolves.org redesigned

Harmaasudet – Greywolves is a live-action role-playing and viking age re-enactment society.
Greywolves published new and completely redesigned website yesterday. The previous design was several years old, and visually quite conservative. The new layout uses colours other than grey. “Branding” images are much more prominent. I find the new layout pleasing to the eye, and consider it a huge step forward.
There’s more to come. The site still needs some content and finishing touches, but the project lead wanted to publish now.
The layout was designed by Hannamari “Hannis” Vahtikari. Olli “Olaus” Hakkarainen coordinated the project and turned Hannis’ vision into a web page. The result also includes some HTML and CSS tuning by yours truly. I don’t agree with some of the implementation decisions, such as having the menu items as images. However, the site works and looks good.
Currently the site doesn’t use a CMS, but consists of a pile of HTML files. I believe this to be a temporary solution. It’ll work for now, but eventually we need more than one or two maintainers. Also, hand-editing gets tiresome quite soon, even with the best possible tools.
Greywolves have a long history with content management systems. Project Midgard was started by two old ‘wolves, Bergie and Hukka. We’ve gone from a bunch of scripts to Midgard, and then to a custom-build Perl system. Now it was time to go back to basics.
I foresee the site using MODx or some alternative. Fortunately the hardest work has been done – thanks to Olaus, Hannis, and everyone who has helped the project. In comparison, the transition to a CMS should be easy and straightforward.
